Bump stop bracket bolt snapped. How screwed am I?

I was working on installing the little RC spacer/lift and when I went to remove the oem bump stop mounting bracket, the 15mm bolt sheared off. I tried using a reverse bit to drill it out, but that sucker looks rusted in there real good. I even hosed it down with pb blaster and waited a while, but no luck.
The jeep is now blocking my driveway and I have no clue what to do about it.

Anyone have any ideas? Thank you in advance for any help everyone!

I would try an easyout. Do a Google search for Easyout.

Thanks. Yeah, I tried that and I didn't have any luck. That bolt is rusted in there real good.

Aside from drilling it out completely, I don't think there's anything else I can do. I just hope there's enough behind it to re-tap the thread.

Ok kool you tried the easyout. He is a little trick with easyouts. As you apply pressure to the broken bolt (steady pressure) tap the end of the easyout with a hammer. A good penetrating oil is your friend here.

You may need to apply heat to the surrounding material if possible. You want the surrounding material to expand thus allowing the bolt to turn.

As you said you may need to drill it out. In that case there are several options. You may get away with being able to retap it. Also you can use Helicoil also there are Keensert. There are many other options. Those are two that I have used succesfully in the past to repair threads.

Re: Bump stop bracket bolt snapped. How screwed am I?

Awesome, thanks for the fast reply and info. I appreciate it.

I'm doing all this work in the driveway of my apartment, so I don't have much to work with, but I'll give it another shot. If I can't get it, I'll try a body shop before I make things worse.

I don't know how risky it will be to put the spring back without the bump stop, but I think I can just drive really slowly to some of the body shops down the street.

Thanks again!
