Re: Chrysler Ghost?

It happened again last night with my dad in the car. He freaked out, but I told him this has happened. I will look for an ignition switch on car-part.com

Re: Chrysler Ghost?

dude by a new one. i only say that because the ign switch is a known problem so a used one may have the same problem. and its like 30 bux delivered.
But I do wonder, it could also be the headlight stalk thing. but that cost more.

if you just want to try something blind, then dothe ign switch.

here is the cheapest you will find it

http://www.moparpartsamerica.com/sho...%26callout%3D3

one last thing to ALL that read this: esp 05/06; do not have like a gabillion keys hanging fromthe ign switch. if you are one of those 'whoever has the most keys wins' guys............well, you could lose this battle of the ign switch.

lastly, some hit it with their knee too. it wouldnt be a bad idea to get in and move the right knee about and see if it hits the switch with normal driving position.

Re: Chrysler Ghost?

I think you may have a different issue Hemi 05, the reason I was asking about being on auto or manual mode, is that the auto lights will turn off when it looses the signal from the ignition switch. In manual mode, the lights will stay on weather there is a signal from the ignition switch or not... I think you could still be leerey of the ignition switch, but your problem may lie elsewear. Chaoul1, X2 buy a new switch man, put a new one in mine in 07, and not one problem sense.... over 55k put on my wk sense then and the problem has never returned.

Re: Chrysler Ghost?

The dealership told me that it was the switch that contolled the off, on, auto position. They said its on back order and costs around 300 dollars. But they said they are not sure and i dnt want to put 300 dollars in something that may or may not work. Paul try the auto position and let me know what happens.

Re: Chrysler Ghost?

Same thing occurred to me last night. ('06 Hemi Overland). I noticed slight flickering on the instrument panel while I was at a red light. However the last few weeks the lights for my passenger climate control knob (right of the knob) are 90% dimmed compared to all the other lights. In the past ALL the icons/lights on the instrument panel have lit up for a few seconds when I hit bumped. The ignition switch does make sense. My car is due for an inspection in a few weeks so I'll tough it out and mention the ignition switch to them.

Re: Chrysler Ghost?

I found out what the problem was.

You have to replace your Turn Signal Stalk. It's called the Multi-Function. This will fix the flickering.

As for the Dim Lights, I wouldn't know. Maybe they are going out.

Re: Chrysler Ghost?

Nothing like going completely dark on a twisty country back road with no other cars or street lights around!

Same issue here as Hemi_05 in the manual positions (parking and on) the lights will sometimes flicker and sometimes, as was the case tonight, they just went dead. Switching to the Auto setting on the stalk turned everything back on just in time for a nice corner.

So from what I'm reading I need a new Multi-function stalk correct?

Re: Chrysler Ghost?

Yes you will. Don't wait on it too. Mine started wearing out on the Auto Position too and they would flicker. It's actually scary.
