Question Chrysler Ghost?

Just about 20 minutes ago I was on my way backcoming home. I had my headlights and the inside lights were on because of the lights duhhh. Anyway my friend noticed it first and then I noticed that my inside and outside lights were rapidly blinking On and Off. I didn't get scared or freak out. My Engine and RPM's were fine. Worst thing was that I was behind a police car too. Lol. So I turned off my lights and turned them back on ( I didn't turn my car off just the lights). Is this actually a problem? I remember some people saying that they have had this issue. Has anyone found the problem or is it the Chrysler Ghost?

Re: Chrysler Ghost?

Hmm, no idea honestly. The only thing I could think of is a wire somewhere may be shorting out.

Never had the problem myself

Re: Chrysler Ghost?

Maybe. I check the battery Cables and they were tight. If it happens again I will look more into it unless someone has found the solution to it.

Re: Chrysler Ghost?

No I mean the wiring leading from the fusebox to the instrument panel. Is it the tack and all that flickering or the center console or ALL of the interior lights were flickering?

I will. I know I didn't hit my knee on the key but I will check that Rob.

Re: Chrysler Ghost?

Try what robpp suggested, had the same thing happen back in 07, I've seen it several times on hondas, then sitting on a dark ass road in IL my lights did the same thing your are doing, and the aformentioned hondas. Having a feeling that it was a similar problem, I wiggled the key, and my lights went nuts.... inside and out side lights. It's most likely your ignition switch. I had mine replaced under warrenty, so I have no idea in detail how to replace it, but I don't think its that hard at all, most aren't. In the mean time if you drive around at night with your lights in the "on" position instead of "auto" I bet your outside lights won't act up, but you interior lights will. By any chance were all of your warning lights on when this happened??

Re: Chrysler Ghost?

Paul my 05 does the same thing! When u put the headlights on Auto problem is fixed. At start mine was doing it randomly. But lately it happens alot.. Took it to the dealer and said that they couldnt duplicate the problem. But the technician said that it was the switch. I dont believe that is true and I think I read somewhere that it is a common problem on the 05 and has to do with the ignition switch? maybe I might be wrong but I want the problem fixed.

Re: Chrysler Ghost?

It took me three trips to the dealer to get them to replace the ignition switch. Mine is an 06, and it is a common problem. There is a weak contact in the switch that causes some things ( lights inside and outside, all of the warning lights come on like you just started it up) to momentarily loose power. I'm not saying it's the switch 100%, but knowing for a fact mine was bad, and the symtoms are identical, I would troubleshoot the ignition switch first. Hemi 05, your outside lights stop flickering when you turn the lights to Auto, as opposed to "on"?? thats a little different than mine, I had to keep my lights in the "on" or manual position to keep them from flickering at night, but all of my warning lights would still flash until I got jeep to replace it for me. ( the tried the ECM first.... then the much cheaper ignition switch.. hahahaha, dummies hahaha).
