Re: codes

give me the actual code. i think the manual may help identify exactly which one and which side.

there are 4 o2's. bank one would be closest to engine. bank 2 is further back.

Re: codes

You have 4 O2 sensors. Bank 1 and Bank 2 refers to the side of the engine it is connected to

Bank 1 = Cylinder 1,3,5,7 = drivers side
Bank 2 = Cylinder 2,4,6,8 = Passengers side

Sensor 1 = Before the Cat = Important = Controls your fuel for your engine
Sensor 2 = After the Cat = Not really important = makes sure your Cat is working as it should

Ton of info on them here if you want to know:
http://www.aa1car.com/library/o2sensor.htm

I'd just replace the sensor and see as it is probably dead (I have received a dead one brand new in the plastic, Jeep didn't like that very well at all...lol). If you have a DashHawk you can monitor the O2's voltage and see if they are bouncing correctly or find someone with a scanner.

They are not that hard to replace but THEY ARE VERY HOT and so are the CATS. You will have to shove your arms way up in there too so be careful and unclipping them is a severe PITA!

This info below is from the service manual

P0138-O2 SENSOR 1/2 CIRCUIT HIGH (CONTINUED)
For the Engine circuit diagram (Refer to 9 - ENGINE - SCHEMATICS AND DIAGRAMS).
For a complete wiring diagram Refer to Section 8W.
When Monitored:
O2 Sensor Heater Temperature is greater than 496C (925F) and battery voltage greater than 10.99 volts.
Set Condition:
The Oxygen Sensor voltage is above 3.99 volts for 30 seconds. One Trip Fault. Three good trips to turn off the
MIL.
Possible Causes
(K141) O2 1/2 SIGNAL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO BATTERY VOLTAGE
(K904) O2 RETURN DOWNSTREAM CIRCUIT SHORTED TO BATTERY VOLTAGE
(K141) O2 1/2 SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT OPEN
(K904) O2 RETURN DOWNSTREAM CIRCUIT OPEN

to 9 - ENGINE - STANDARD PROCEDURE)
7. PCM
NOTE: Before continuing, check the PCM harness connector terminals for corrosion, damage, or terminal
push out. Repair as necessary.
Using the schematics as a guide, inspect the wire harness and connectors. Pay particular attention to all Power and
Ground circuits.
Were there any problems found?
Yes >> Repair as necessary.
Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. (Refer to 9 - ENGINE - STANDARD PROCEDURE)

Re: codes

If you've never replaced an O2 sensor before you might want to pick up the special socket that lets you use a ratchet even with the wire pigtail. You might be able to do it with an open end wrench, might not be able to do so but it will be easier with the socket.

Re: codes

my buddy and i just got finish with it. it wasnt easy to do because you dont have much room to work with and the hanger it in the way here are pics

to the right is the cat convert not much room to work with

if you have big hand dont thing of doing this job you have little room to work with and why did that have to put the hanger right there. you can pull the wire a lil but too much cause i was in fear of ripping the wire out

Re: codes

Just go to the dealership and tell the to reset it. And tell them if this happens again they have to try and solve it.
