Smile Cracked Valve Stem Replacement

I have a cracked valve stem. Jeep quoted me at 180 to fix but I know it is easy to fix and my sensor is completely intact. I replaced the valve stem with a rubber one, which was cheap compared to the part jeep wanted me to get at 150. I verified everything works fine - tire pressure is correct in all tires BUT my tire pressure light will NOT go off.

I am pretty sure this is because its not a jeep part but can anyone point me in a direction to get this valve stem for less then 150???

I check out VdO.com which shows me the part I need i think...

http://www.usa.vdo.com/generator/www...lc_tpms_en.pdf

Can anyone help point me in the right direction to fix this for less then 180 that jeep wants?

Mike,

I'd agree a little with Bill, did you go to a local tire shop? or the dealer? both?

I'm sure other people have dealt with this.

Anyone with first-hand experience in this issue? I tried to help, ended up just sending him here for the collective knowledge base.

Edit: moved for visibility.

I am in the process of checking a few local stores. I was interested in seeing if this vdo.com site is legit and correct with the parts and if anyone has used them before to figure out parts that are needed.

Re: Cracked Valve Stem Replacement

so the rubber one you used, did have a TPMS sensor right or is it just a bare stem... Sorry I gotta ask.

If it doesnt have a sensor then thats your problem.

Also the signal on them changed in 07 or 08 so if you got an early wk sensor or a late wk sensor dependant on which year you have could be your issue.
