My 2006 Grand Jerokee CRD transfer case on the yoke to the front propshaft is extremely hot.The boot over the bearing have sort off burst and i changed the propshaft now three times. The bearing on the yoke to the front propshaft have also being changed It is still so hot that i cant touched it. Is this normal temperature or what can cause this heat. The front diff lock is not engaged.
The whole T-case becomes hot, but if there is a significant temperature difference between the front and the rear side, then it doesn't seem to be normal. Why did you change the prop shaft 3 times? Fluid level in T-case is ok?

There is s rubber boot on the front propshaft that covers a bearing were it connect to the gearbox. This get so hot that the boot tear and then all the bearing grease comes out and the bearing seases. This propshat cannot be repaired and you got to change the whole propshaft. It is only the transfer case that get so hot and the auto box is quite cool. Yes the level is ok.I do have now idea why it gets so hot.
