Cvt trans.

Question. Can the cvt transmission be repaired without changing the entire unit.

Had the car (2007 compass) diagnosed for a p0741 dtc and the service manager informed me that the transmission would have to be replaced. He stated they don't service the valve body. Any body have any info

Re: Cvt trans.

I would believe him...

All I have been told (going through the cvt class) was "we are showing you whats inside and how it works but as of now there are not teardown procedures or replacement parts available, if it internal then it needs a transmission". IIRC it has to do mainly with warranty claims and the supplier of the trans eating the warranty transmissions also with how clean everything must be during reassembly... I am sorry if this is misinformation, I took the class like 9 months ago, and remembering details on a transmission we dont tear down is next to impossible... thats why I have my class book at work ... Its not as important to retain insignificat facts as it is to know how to retrieve them as needed these days.

Sorry.
