Cylinder #3 Misfire

2003 Grand Cherokee 4.0 L. P0303 code shows up after engine heats up, an hour or so after being started. I have replaced the spark plugs with champion copper core plugs gapped to .35. Replaced coil pack. Did compression test and all cylinders around 140-150. Swapped #3 and #2 injectors and still having the same problem. Any suggestions?

Re: Cylinder #3 Misfire

Thank you. I've seen the TSB and have been hesitant because the description doesn't exactly match my symptoms. Worth a try I guess.

Re: Cylinder #3 Misfire

There is an other TSB as well worth to check out. Its regarding carbon buildup on the valve stems. Can not attach anything now, but have a look at WJJeeps.com - Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ 1999-2004 under TSB s.

Re: Cylinder #3 Misfire

Just checked the TSBīs and this is the one. A seafoam treatment could help you out in that case.

Smile Re: Cylinder #3 Misfire

Case closed. The valve seats had begun to burn away which caused the valves to suck back into the head and some white build up on the exhaust valves, worse on cylinder #3 valves/seats causing the misfire. After a complete rebuild of the head, my Jeep is running like new. Thanks everyone for your help.
