Dedicated diagnostic software?

Hi. Most other cars I've had have had dedicated software diagnostic program's such as op-com for vauxhall, Vagcom for VW etc but I can't seem to find anything for jeeps? Is there some or is it just a case of using generic OBD software?

Ok. So I've found several versions of witech, have even found laptops with it installed. But, will it run with just an OBD cable or does it have to go through some special interface?

Re: Dedicated diagnostic software?

Your going to need to contact Witech... Witech is a wireless VCI pod that plugs into your DLC and then the software is loaded onto a computer. I read a disclamer posted by ebay about witech sales a year or so ago that Witech was deactivating VCI pods after being sold. I cannot remember all the detals but it was pretty crappy, something like the company wanted to double dip and be paid by the second owner too. Dont quote me though, im sure some poking around on ebay you could find the same disclamer. If you make some phone calls I am sure they would be able to set you up. If you own a 2010 or older grand cherokee a starscan will work just fine. You would not be able to flash controllers or anything but you would have dealer scan tool information which is really unmatched by the aftermarket.

My GC is a 2002. Starscan though is a separate interface isn't it? I was hoping to not have to buy anything other than software! I have software for many cars I've had such as BMW, GM, Ford etc. these are all run from a laptop. Some have had the dongle requirement bypassed but all work from PC. I'm guessing Chrysler isn't gonna be that simple?

Re: Dedicated diagnostic software?

Nope chrysler doesnt have anything cheap or easy... your probably looking at 800-2500 dollars for a scantool. For an 02 the DRBIII would work just fine, the witech is the only other option.
