Door Unlocking problem Jeep WK

Hey Guys !

I have a little problem on my Jeep and was wondering if any of you ever experienced the same thing before !!

Every morning that temperature goes under -5 celcius, when I try unlocking the door with the remote, the only door that unlock is the driver one (at least ... ) I cant unlock the other 3 doors (and rear hatch, but liftglass works with rear switch). Even if I press 2-4-5-8 times the unlock button on the remote, there is only the front driver door that will unlock.

Same problem happens when I choose Driver First or All Doors in cluster options .

What I thought could cause :

Cluster, because you can change unlock options (Driver first / All Doors)

Module

Wires

What do you guys think !

Phil

Re: Door Unlocking problem Jeep WK

happend to me before when it was really cold out in the am before i headed off for work...everything would unlock but my drivers door...lol, exactly the opposite of what i wanted to happen

i was assume the weather could mess with it but not too sure.

i swapped out my FOB keys and didn't have issue the next day, so i am not sure if my key was acting funny or not

Re: Door Unlocking problem Jeep WK

I am pretty sure that it isn't my key. When I get inside the truck, I can't even unlock all doors using the switch on both front door panel !

Tried the truck again this morning and it was hotter (0 deg celcius), all doors unlocked hehe !

God damn cold temperature here in Quebec !

Re: Door Unlocking problem Jeep WK

Like I said, doors does not even unlock using door switch ? Only way I could unlock doors is manualy pulling it up.

If the key would be the problem, I could unlock using inside switches.

Re: Door Unlocking problem Jeep WK

yea dude, if you press unlock button on key and see the locks move slightly, the signal is obviously working on key, i have a feeling it is too bloody cold up there @_@

Re: Door Unlocking problem Jeep WK

Nothing moves while hitting the key button.

Really feels like the only door that receive the signal is the driver door. I could hear the latches "whine" when they would receive the signal but nothing.

Oh well I think I should ask other wk guys in my cold area hehe ...

Re: Door Unlocking problem Jeep WK

Could just be frozen stuck, try tugging on each one up and down a few x and then try operating it with key and see if it works, just need to keep ruling things out. Then you can begin to tear stuff apart and check wiring and thigs like that. All else fails a batt disconnect may solve it otherwise try dealer? G/L either way man, keep us posted!

Re: Door Unlocking problem Jeep WK

I really doubt all three doors + door latch would all freeze out at the same time. I can give a try but still ... we ll see !!

Ill try disconnecting the battery just to see what could happen.

Ill let you guys know ..

Re: Door Unlocking problem Jeep WK

Little update if that can interest any of you.

Got the wiring diagram. The unlock system works with 2 relay. One for driver door latch, the other for passenger doors. And we all know relays aren't the most reliable element so that makes sense !

Decided to reach the relays under the dash. Got my hand on the junction box, surprise it's wet !!

So I got a water intrusion near the junction box. Hopefully the junction box is nothing getting all dirty on the inside. I dried the whole thing and plugged it back to its place, I had to go back home take care of the wife and kid.

My theories :

Water intrusion from the windshield
Windshield washer hose leaking (for the rear). It was wet and is going through the dash and going up to the A-pillar. So maybe there could be a small hole and everytime I hit the rear washer button there is a little leak.
I'll keep you guys posted.

If any of you ever experienced a water intrusion, let me know !!

Phil

Re: Door Unlocking problem Jeep WK

Leak is coming from the sunroof drain. At first I thought it was a wire loom but when I started touching it, I realized it was a drain.

Dropped the headliner, dried everything, sprayed water on the sunroof and saw that the drain was getting wet.

Unpluggued the drain from the sunroof, blowed air into it, pluggued it back and a little deeper in the drain hole. Sprayed water back and seems that it has solved the problem !!

Now let's hope that water didn't do any damage !!

Unlock now works well but it has been hot for the last couple days. I'll re-confirm when temperature gets under -5C.

Phil
