Electrical problems

Hello all! I am new to this site so bear with me. I am joining because I have had numerous problems with my Jeep including having a new motor put in a little over a year ago. I would also like to get up-to-date news.
I have a 2004 Jeep Cherokee Overland V8. My blower motor would shut off, when I would turn the unit off then back on, it would start working again. Now it has quit all together. My windows wont roll up or down unless all my doors are shut. My doors don't lock right away when put into gear. if I try to unlock my doors with my key, the horn sounds and still wont unlock. I have to use the key fob to unlock them. I have spent so much money on my Jeep. I'm at my wits end with it.

Re: Electrical problems

Welcome to the garage. Windows, locks and alarm are most probably a broken wire in the drivers door boot. Since it sometimes works, the wire isolation is most probably still intact, making it even more difficult to discover. If no broken wire, try a battery reset. When the BCM freezes up, strange behaviour as you mentioned can happen.
Blower motor is most probably a melted connector on the blower motor controller. Look up in the passenger footwell for this. By the way, the doors dont lock when putting into gear, you will need to drive 15 mph and then they should lock.

Re: Electrical problems

Thank you for the information Frango100. I'm taking it to the shop next week to get a diagnosis. I'm going to have him check into the wiring for the door like you said. I never knew you have to drive a certain speed for the doors to lock. Thanks. I will post the results after it's been looked at in hopes it may help someone else for future use. I have put well over $8,000 of vehicle repairs (including motor) into this vehicle so I'm kind of stuck with it now. Just been real irritating.

Re: Electrical problems

When im not wrong, is locking the doors when driving, an option which can be set in the EVIC ( electronic vehicle information center)
