engine coolant sensor bad

I have a 1997 Grand Cherokee limited with the 5.2L. The VIC gives me a "engine coolant sensor bad". I heard it's a known problem on these. Can anyone point me at where to look first?

Also, the Jeep sat for the summer and now it keep stalling on me. Once in a while when I stop and in drive, it will quit. Any known cause I could check out?

Re: engine coolant sensor bad

I have the same problem in my 98. I have already replaced the sensor in the thermostat housing and it still calls out "coolant sensor bad". I'm also going to replace the sensor in the overflow just because I can. If anyone can help with this, it would be much appreciated!

Don't know if it is your problem, but i heard of bad solders on the VIC circuit board.
Regarding the stalling, is there any fault code set?

I've got the same problem with the sensor, anyone got some insight? (No stalling though)

If you already changed the sensor, have a look at the solders on the VIC circuit board. Seems to happen more often that they can get loose after time and cause messages like this. Just resolder them again.

Re: engine coolant sensor bad

I haven't done either yet, wanted to get some feed back first. I've heard the solders on the VIC do get loose. I'll check it first before I replace the sensor. Thanks!
