Flashing security light

I will try to explain this the best I can. I have a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. There is a bulb on top of the dash that I believe is supposed to blink when the doors are locked. ( I have owned two other Chrysler's and that is how it worked). I have not been able to get this light to activate. I have the read the manual twice and cannot find a mention of it, but has lead me to believe not all JGC will have this option, but I would think if the light is there it should work. Do I need to take it in, or how do I know if this is an option I have? Thank you

Re: Flashing security light

I can't speak for the Laredo but the security light is in the tachometer pod on my Overland.

What location does your owner's manual show it in?

Re: Flashing security light

As per your owner’s manual, the Vehicle Security Light is in your instrument panel.

UNDERSTANDING YOUR INSTRUMENT PANEL

19. Vehicle Security Light

This light will flash rapidly for approximately15 seconds when the vehicle theft alarm is arming. The light will flash at a slower speed continuously after the alarm is set. The security light will also come on for about three seconds when the
ignition is first turned on.

The “bulb” you may be referring to, is this in the centre of the dash and very forward? If so this is the light sensor for Auto Lights.

Re: Flashing security light

That's the problem, I have been over the manual several times and cannot find any reference to it. It's a bulb on top of the dash, in the middle, near the windshield.

Re: Flashing security light

Thank you Snuke! That is the bulb I am referring to. In my other vehicles, there was a bulb there that flashed when I locked the doors and it seemed similar, although a bit darker. Now I have that question answered.
