fob will not start car.
I own a 2011 Jeep Cherokee Laredo. The push button start worked for the first year or two. Then one day it displayed a "Key damaged" when I tried to start it. From that time on I have had to insert the fob to start the car. I do not believe the fob key is damaged as "why would both keys get damaged at the same time"?
So, I am hoping someone would give me some advise on what is wrong? Maybe the on board sensor?, I believe it is up by the rear view mirror. But am unable to get it exposed.
I have also had several electrical problems; such as; 1. The rear cam once made a beeping sound when I was backing; It no longer does that. 2. The loose gas cap light often comes on. 3. About once a month the check engine light will come on, and then go off after a few days. 4. The remote start will often start the car, then after a few seconds it will shut off. And No, it is not warmed up already.
But the biggest problem now is the fob keys, not starting the car using the push button. I am not able to just up and take it to a dealer as I live on an island in S.E. Alaska. It cost $800 plus just to put it on the ferry.
Thanks, in advance for any help I can get. Ralph
