Getting P1756 code??

I hear that this may be a governor pressure sensor, would this throw the check engine light? And if so, mine feels as though it is shifting a little better and not as doggy from a stop as it was. Shifts fine still, no over revs, no symptoms, nothing I noticed except the check engine light. I did the code check myself by turning ignotion cycle 3x then leaving it and this is the code I received. Any help will do. Thanks.

Re: Getting P1756 code??

Yes, this code should give the "check engine" light. Most probably the sensor is the problem, but you better also change the governor solenoid at the same time, just to prevent opening it all up again. Here they have OEM equipment for a good price: Automotive Transmission Electronics Specialists

Is there a gasket that will need to be replaced once the tranny pan has been dropped?

Yes, or RTV works, too.

Re: Getting P1756 code??

My experience with prefab gasket was not so good, started leaking after some time. For me only RTV, eventhough it gives more work to clean the next time.

So, switched out the regulator and the solenoid. Had a great time doing so to thanks to a youtube video that gave some great instructions on how to. What ive noticed since I changed them two is that I didnt have 2nd gear since I bought the damn thing. It downshifts to a stop way smoother than it ever did. Now im no real car guy but with all YOUR help here I was able to order the right parts and install them with ease. I tore apart and put back together in 2hrs. The worst was just cleaning the tranny pan and re adding the new fluid. Im in love. Thanks for all your help here this is a great forum. I hope I can help someone on here sometime too. Thanks again. 100% good feed back. Thanks.

I believe disconnecting the battery for a few minutes will do it, otherwise it'll disappear on its own after 50 key cycles, iirc.

Re: Getting P1756 code??

I donīt think the MIL (malfunction indicator light) will go out by disconnecting the battery, but i can be wrong. It can be that the MIL goes out after 3 warm up cycles, the stored fault however will only disappear after 40 good cycles.
The fault can be errased at any time using a scanner. If you donīt have a scanner, but you have an android phone, then you only need to buy a bluetooth adapter and download the free app Torque. You can then errase fault codes, but also see all stored faults and view live data (which could be handy for future problems)
