Grand cherokee2015 gear issue

Hey guys I just bought a new V6 Grand cherokee from a week earlier.. it's a beast and I love the car but the only thing I noticed is the gear jerking between 1st and 2nd gear only... the other shifting process us Good so far no issues.
I took it to the dealer and rhe told me it's normal which I believe it's not because I never owned a car that has this issue... and it's only happening when I release the paddle and it shifts to the 2nd gear with a jump and clank noise...

Any idea ?

Mine was jerking bad up shifting from 2 to 3 (without the use of the paddles). I brought it to the jeep dealership and they updated the computer software for the transmission as there was an update. Worked great for 3 weeks but it started again recently. Have an appointment at 10am tomorrow to get it looked at again

Re: Grand cherokee2015 gear issue

Welcome to the party. They're faulty transmissions and FCA isn't owning up. My 2015 has already been in three times. First time they did a TSB software flash. Fixed the problem for maybe 500 miles or so and then it got bad again. Took it in 2nd time (at 2000 miles) and they replaced the valve body and re-flashed with the bullsh*t quicklearn. Started acting weird 200 miles after that, took it in again, and they strangely "couldn't duplicate the problem," obviously knowing that if they did anything that visit it would've been the third repair attempt and I would have rights under CA lemon law. Car eventually smoothed out after that, however. They said give it 500 miles or so to adapt to your driving. Now I am at 3200 miles and it started acting up again two days ago. The shifting is all over the map, jerky, hesitant, in the low gears.

I'll be taking it in this week for the fourth time, at which point they will probably just say nothing is wrong.
Meanwhile I have a claim open with FCA but that's useless.

I'll ultimately have to try to get them to buy this car back. Had I known then what I know now, I would've held onto my 2012 like it was a bag of gold.

They rushed this transmission to market without doing the proper testing on it; and they are hiding beyond the position that American consumers are not used to an 8-speed transmission like the European drivers are and that it requires a different driving technique. I've heard every excuse in the book re this problem. Another favorite: I'm obviously subjecting the vehicle to atypical or "anomalous" driving conditions.

Feel free to ask me anything you want about this. I've practically become an expert on the topic.

Re: Grand cherokee2015 gear issue

Not sure. But apparently disconnecting the battery yields the same results as one of these software flashes, so I question the effectiveness of the update. All it does it clear the shifting data that's been stored in the car's computer

Not sure?

I went there Saturday to get it checked out - had an appointment and all specifically for a transmission issue (stated this about 5x on the phone when I made the call). Of course the 'transmission guy' was off on Saturday, so I basically got up and went there for nothing /sigh

I go back Monday and I can ask them if they have a software update patch # or something similar, just for the hell of it.

Re: Grand cherokee2015 gear issue

Funny. My car feels heavy with Eco off. My car feels normal with Eco on. The transmission tech at the dealership says never turn Eco off because it will confuse the transmission after I've been driving with Eco on and it will then have to relearn. This is all so very stupid. Why doesn't FCA deal appropriately with this? I wish someone would just tell me the truth. I can live with it, I just want to know WHY it acts this way

Re: Grand cherokee2015 gear issue

My biggest issue is the upshift hesitation between 1-2 or 2-3. I think I've figured out when it will do it. As silly as it sounds, if the road is even slightly inclined (and I do mean slightly) , and you are traveling on the downslope, the transmission will get confused because it wants to downshift while you are trying to upshift, hence the hesitation. It usually happens to me at stop signs. Here in Los Angeles, a lot of streets dip at intersections. So when I stop at the intersection and then go forward, the car is slightly tilted downhill for a split second where paving intersects the cross street. I assume that that downhill motion makes the transmission want to downshift, when I'm trying to accelerate.
