Arrow Hardwire Radar?? - 2014+ SRT/WK2

Hi JG! I want to hard-wire my radar into my rear view mirror. I found the following diagram on wk2jeeps.com:

http://wk2jeeps.com/pdf/2012_wk_srt8...ror_wiring.pdf

Based on what I see I would tap into "A8" for ground and "A13" for switched power...please correct me if I am totally off!!

I ordered the following:

http://www.amazon.com/PerformancePac...ire+Power+Cord

Couple questions...

1. Has anyone done this on a 2014? If so, any pictures of the wiring harness and which ones you tapped into?
2. How does the bottom plastic casing come off to expose the wiring? I have tried but don't want to break it if there is a simple "trick"...or if brute force is required then so be it

Here are pics of the housing below the mirror:

Any help is greatly appreciated. I will post on this thread once I install this weekend (assuming I can figure it out )

Thanks in advance for any assistance

AND here is an old thread for when I did my WK (different method; utilized the fuse box drivers side foot well...along with other members ideas

Another option is the savvy unit from valentine. Plugs into your OBD port, I can take a couple photos of my setup this evening. Was super easy took all of 10 minutes to do and you don't have to mess with wiring or removing panels, I have the cord tucked under the headliner and running down the pillar under the "black flap" ( lol I don't know the official name). Can't see any wires and an added bonus it shuts the V1 up at low speeds.

Re: Hardwire Radar?? - 2014+ SRT/WK2

I have a dash camera mounted very much in the way described above. Radar detectors will get you a heavy fine in VA. Plus if you actually have been in a highway patrol/ state police cruiser, you can see easily that no matter what detector you are using, if you are the only one on the highway, one on one, your caught. Same with laser as you come over a ridge. They don't scatter and all the radar guns newer than 1990 have a trigger to keep the unit off until your pulse and have the speed instantly.
As I have gotten a bit older, I've realized that the insurance premium increase is a far worse punishment than the ticket. I NY state they enforce everywhere and have red light cameras all over. However I've never been pulled over for 7-10mph over on highways or 3-7mph over on most streets. I've inly seen massive enforcement efforts in construction zones or school zones and I fully support those.

Crossing the country many times and when I worked in Pharma sales or in home healthcare I put 70K on a care annually. On rural highways if you actually slow down through the small towns you are usually fine unless speeding and changing lanes a lot. Erratic driving will get you ticketed faster than anything.

I have the Escort Redline and love it...haven't gone to the V1 but have heard nothing but great things. I will look into them heavily in 1-2 years when a upgrade is necessary. Thank for the info about the OBD port concept, never heard of that!

Glad you have a dash camera mounted in a similar fashion. And sorry you can get a fine in VA for a radar. I do not live there.

Unfortunately the remainder of your statement has NOTHING to do with MY thread. I abide by all laws, nor condone speeding in "small towns and school areas". There are SERIOUS new Ford Explorers in my area, along with CHP Crown Vics and Motorcycle cops. I am very familiar with all forms of radar, laser and mounted cameras/mph readings/monitor systems. Please enjoy your evening and unless you can assist with the wiring diagram for a 2014+ mirror and dis-assembly, you can go post elsewhere...hopefully on topic and productive.

Re: Hardwire Radar?? - 2014+ SRT/WK2

08Hemi, I'm going to install my V1 in the next couple days with a mirror tap and use a blendmount that bolts to the mirror stem. I'll take a couple pics for this thread.
BTW, the Valentine SAVVY is not recommended for our Jeeps. It doesn't switch off correctly and will drain your battery.
