I honestly can't tell which side, all I know is that this is coming from the front for sure. Like I said it not only squeal, it gurgles first which is weird.

Re: Have This Odd Noise When Braking: Help

Are you guys familiar with those dump trucks or semis that have those real loud ass brakes, I think they are called jake brakes. When I hit the brakes at any speed (louder at high speeds), my truck sound like that from the inside and most likely outside. this is ridiculous. I'll post photos of my rotors tomorrow. Im so fed up. So Rob what should I look for in terms of wheel bearing, where exactly is it located? These problems are annoying

Re: Have This Odd Noise When Braking: Help

Alright so today I probably had the worst day I've had in a long time. Went out and decided to get a wheel alignment at Strauss because I noticed my Jeep pulls to the left once I stop. While going there my driver side window regulator decided to pop (literally) and drop the glass . It nicked my tint but whatever.

Anyway I opted to get the wheel alignment first. It took forever and the guy claimed to have everything straightened out, great right? but then he tells me I noticed in test driving it and aligning it your left brake caliper is seizing and that my control arm bushings are shot or some other word Could these two horrendous things be the culprit of the noise? By the way the mouse squeals haven't happened in a while but the brake squeal (as if my brakes were out) still occur. By the way, they quoted me 582.55 for the the two control arms, another alignment, some brake fluid etc. Anybody familiar with the calipers strauss use? Any ideas on better companies for caliper/arms etc?

Heres the physical quote:

Like I said are there better brands (for calipers and arms) or should I stick with their stuff (don't even know the brand)? As of right I don't have the cash but let me know of all options I want to crap taken care of.

Edit: This idiot told me bushings, he claims the whole arms has to be replaced. WTF!?!? I can believe the story about the calipers but this?

I think its probably the pads to be honest. I get a squeaking noise from the rear (solid) rotors braking when they are cold.

The front sound really rough when braking heavy where I have the grooved rotors. Thing is all my rotors are as straight as an old record thats been out in the sun all day!

I bought new EBC solid rotors and pads to ensure compatibility and get rid of brake noise which will be getting fitted tomorrow or Thursday. I'll post up the results here for you Chuck.

Oh, I have 2 1/2k miles on my rotors/pads and they still sounded the same with the OEM 17" wheels I used over Winter.

Re: Have This Odd Noise When Braking: Help

Anybody? I know Im bumping this fast. But having a problem with my brake system is not something I want to keep having (I drive this daily on highway and city). Just to reiterate, Im told I need a new left front caliper because my current one is seizing up which might explain the noise and the recent pulling to the left. In addition I was suggested to buy new lower control arms because the bushings are cracked. All the info is 3 posts up. Any suggestions on brand of caliper? Are there calipers which surpass OEM and fit my WJ with my wheels? Anything. Thanks guys, any help is appreciated.

The repair shop wants to do what is easiest and that is to replace the entire control arms, but you can just replace the bushings. Do not worry about the control arms, I would worry about the brakes and the ball joints. If your lower ball joints are bad, then your upper are probably not far behind. The front end is going to be dissassembled for the lower so the labor is not going to really change for the replacement of the uppers. Also on the quote there is a charge for "hotshot" . What is it and why is it $92.00?
