Also my HID's arent working properly now, same as last winter in the cold weather then they worked fine all summer but now its flickering again.

I have the WK service manual on disk and will try and cut and paste the page on how to replace the resistor.

Dude, Its only $6 spend the money and be done with it..why bother with taking it apart, trying to clean it , then putting it back together only to have to replace it anyway..If you can spend tons of money on mods, then $6 shouldnt be an issue

I have the ground wire directly on the battery now and its still flickering and shuts off. Plus i still have the extra ground wire i spliced in mounted to the inner fender, the wire I soldered to the grounding ring and sanded the crap out of the paint at that area. And I notice it only does it when its cold in the morning or night below 60 degrees if that makes sence.

Re: Heater blower motor resistor?

With the forums and a few tools you can do most of the work yourself. My rig has 65k on it, never been to the shop except for a warranty reflash and a set of tires.

I have always done everything myself to all my cars I have owned. The only thing I had a shop do on my WK is install the srt exhaust because I dont have a welder, I did the lowering springs, ground effects, HID's, blown strut, complete stereo install w/all new wires for speakers from amps, water pump, and just did my oil yestarday. Oh, and when doing my lowering springs I stripped a front sway bar bolt so i had a shop do it thinking they would charge me like 10 bucks but instead raped me for 46 bucks and if I had known that I would of went and bought the tap n die set for 20 bucks and done it myself. The resistor is tit to change out, I have the WK manual on disk to follow, but i was just seeing if on the resistor itself there was a simple capacitor or something I could get at radio shack for pennies and solder on myself, cuz im good like that. Im about to remove the heater control unit and replace the 3 bulbs in there that are burnt out. When I bought my WK last year it never lite up so i thought that was normal for a Laredo but see burnt bulbs are common in a WK manual heater control. I have the bulbs already, but seeing how i could put LEDs in there instead with resistors.

Re: Heater blower motor resistor?

Changed it out, and now the blower works fine. Spent $13.23 at the Jeep dealer, because I was impatient and they happen to have one in stock.

Picture of the glove box removed, resistor located directly behind it. Red arrow shows where it goes, blue arrow shows its wiring harness.

Re: Heater blower motor resistor?

So i just got home from the stealership and the dipshit tried telling me that i would need a new motor also or it would go out again within 30 days...so i asked him why they go bad being that he semed to know everything there is to know about the wk...anyway he replied...its because the blower motor draws too much amperage and it fries the resistor.i looked at him with a blank stare and after a moment of silence asked him if he knew what ohms law was...he said...no why? i replied...nevermind.unless im just ill informed on electronics...doesnt the resistor regulate the amperage the motor draws? therefore i dont need a gd motor!
