heating,cooling

Hi all, tonight I noticed, for the first time, when trying to defog my windshield, that it, at first it didn't sound like it was on. About a minute or so later, it finally kicked on, then off again. It continued to do this until I pulled into my garage. Checked fuses, nothing. Turned the grand cherokee off and off, nothing. The only thing I can think of, might be blower resistor?? Any guess or sure things are welcome.

Re: heating,cooling

What year jeep?
The WJ for example suffers from melting connectors on the blower motor controller.

Re: heating,cooling

Ok, then have indeed a look at the blower motor controller which sits next to the blower motor itself. Look up from the passenger foot well and you can see both. Most of the time the problem you described is due to bad contact of the blower motor controller connector pins. The bad contact (resistance) let the pins heat up and melt the plastic connector. It can melt in such a way that you can't remove the connector anymore. You could buy a MOPAR repair wire kit, or just safe some money and solder the wires directly to the controller board. I think it was Ypahihi who did a writeup on this.

Re: heating,cooling

And here you can find the "how to" from Ypahihi: Replacing Blower Motor Resister Wiring
