High pressure fuel hose to the fuel rail

I just changed my high pressure fuel line between the fuel rail and main fuel line, because it was leaking at the fuel line quick release. The new factory quick release hose is also leaking in the same spot. Is there something I can do to fix this problem. I was thinking Teflon tape, but it probably won't work well with gasoline.

Re: High pressure fuel hose to the fuel rail

Did you check the fuel line which goes into the quick disconnect for damage or maybe a crack?

No noticeable damage to fuel line. Do you think The new mopar line might just not be up to par? Is there anything I can lube the o ring with to make it work better or wrap the fuel line with so it will make a tighter fit.

Re: High pressure fuel hose to the fuel rail

When the old hose ànd new hose leak at the same spot, I would expect a problem with the line which goes into the quick disconnect. Sometimes a very small crack, hardly visible, is the problem.
You could try to lubricate the O ring with some vaseline or engine oil.

Ok, upon closer inspection I did find that the edge of the fuel line has several rough spots on it. I was going to try and sand them smooth. Then put a rag over the fuel line, turn ignition on and off several times to clean anything that might of gotten trapped inside fuel line while I was sanding. Will this work to make sure nothing gets inside the injectors.

Re: High pressure fuel hose to the fuel rail

That should work, but take care that quite some fuel will come out. You also have to check the O ring in the quick disconnect if it is not cut by the rough edge from the line.

Is it ok to just reverse the high pressure line, then if the o ring is cut, it will leak at the fuel rail instead, and I will know it is cut

Re: High pressure fuel hose to the fuel rail

If the connections on both ends are the same I don't see a reason why not. Take only care with fuel leak and hot engine parts, it can easily cause a fire.

I sanded it smooth, but it is still leaking. I will call the dealer tomorrow and order a new fuel line, I guess.

Re: High pressure fuel hose to the fuel rail

Did you turn the fuel hose around and its still leaking at the same side? Then there is probably a hairline crack in the line. Did you look at it with a bright inspection light and maybe a mirror to see the upper part as well?
