But now that Chrysler has begun making mall cruisers and grocery getters for soccer moms the whining is non stop. Jeeps are not supposed to ride and drive like Cadillac Escalades. Chrysler should have called everything that is not a heavy duty 4X4 Jeep model a Dodge to get out from under this. You have to remember that the Jeep pretty much started its life as a military vehicle, not as a boulevard cruiser. I love my 2014 Jeep Cherokee Limited II and love how it runs and drives. It drives like a Jeep should. A bit rough and doesn't get the best gas mileage. But the things I love about it have both this forum and The Jeep Cherokee Club forum filled with complaints because it doesn't run and drive like a foreign luxury car. The complainers bought the wrong vehicle for their life style and shouldn't be blaming the vehicle for their mistake.

What ? In 1949 Jeep introduced the Willy's Wagon 1st suv..Luxury for its time ! And they had 2 wd Jeep's then too...also they had Jeep trucks etc..time to research Jeep...if anything Chrysler made Jeep a better 4x4..The Wagoneer started in the 60's another luxury suv..Chrysler wasn't the first owner of jeep to offer rwd...

Re: How do I turn the radio off

What a dumb idea ! Cant turn the radio off...I don't listen to my radio all the time, SO...when I start my vehicle I don't want a radio turned on and screaming !!! I turned the volume off...But the darn thing goes loud when I start the Jeep !! Bloody annoying !!

To the people that cant understand why some people don't like the radio on when they start the vehicle, its because they NEVER left the radio on ,on their other vehicles that you can turn it off...It is really annoying...Think of this, would you like the wipers to go full blast every time you start the Jeep ? No ? Then you get it...I could say well then..ahhhh whats the big deal, just turn the wipers off !!! ? !!!

This is really stupid !!! Thankfully its a rental Jeep, and I wont be buying one..I owned a 2003 Grand Cherokee and loved it ..was thinking of a new one but the radio thing is a deal breaker, very, very annoying..Very !!

The people that don't have a problem with the radio being always on...always keeps the radio on anyways...I don't,I always turn off my radio if I listen to it..turn my heat or a/c off, wipers off..I like to start the vehicle and have nothing on..like the older ones...not these disasters they make today....

Too bad I really like the Jeep besides the radio being on and not a fan of the mandatory infotainment....it should be an option, and people who want real Jeeps and vehicles can have real controls, not computer screens, bloody idiotic, cant wait until it fails..thats going to cost you !!!!

No Jeep for me...I will kepp my 2010 Challenger SRT and 2005 RAM SRT-10 and my 68 Charger RT 440 forever,no b.s infotainment crap with the annoying radio near full blast when started ,just odd are these people on crack ? WTF !!! Seriously, deal breaker !!! I will look at the RAM trucks to see if they have this idiotic system,if they do I will go elsewhere...WTH Chrysler, whats next start your vehicle and the seats go full blast on high heat, then up/down/front/back windows go up/down/horn honks..I would assume so ,right ?

Re: How do I turn the radio off

Whose radio starts at full blast? Mine restarts at the level I left it. So if the volume is turned down it is down on restart. my Ram is the same way. I've never, ever, found the radio an annoyance. God, some people will bitch about anything.

Re: How do I turn the radio off

I know I'm late to the party, but figure I'll add my $.02 . In actuality, the reason they don't want you to turn the radio off is because it is much more than the radio involved. Over the years, auto manufacturers chose the radio to be the central electronic hub of the car. It started with air bags and security systems. Anyone who tried to replace their radio in a car from the late 90s early 2K found that if they replaced the stock radio, they also had to buy an additional module to replace what would be missing in the aftermarket head unit.

So the radio was chosen as the central piece of equipment that is always there. They have now taken it a step farther, now not only must it be there, but it must be turned on. Turn your volume to 0 and forget about it. The NAV and BT Phone have their own volume settings.

Wanna have some fun? Find the power source for the radio, pull it, and then try and start the car. I do not think you will be very successful.

Almost three years late. I sure hope they don't change it now for MY 16.
