Unhappy I got no power for most of the interior and windows....

ok basically in a nutshell....

-all my interior lights dont fire/turn on. ( dome, foot area, rear passengers, and rear dome dont work)
- my front door control arm lights up and i can control the rear windows from my drivers control arm but my front two windows have no function from either side.
- my power door lock/unlock(s) dont work
-my power mirror(s) doesnt work

however all my options and icons work on my center console and my radio all work properly as well as my power sunroof all work but my interior lights and front windows..

its gotta be a fuse somewhere but i checked a couple and they appeared* to be ok, i even switched out my fuse for the front power windows (blue 20) for a working fuse from nates jeep that didnt work on my car but when he put it back in his it worked.... the new fuse didnt work for me so im leaning on a slight problem i think i might be having here

i mean my theory is (correct me if im wrong) why does my control arm(s) light up and i can even operate the rear windows from the drivers side but the power door lock/unlock dont work on either of the front two control arms?? if it was a fuse for that wouldnt it kill the whole arm and not just a couple functions??

it eventually got pitch black out and i wasnt about to dig under my dash some more and risk something else happening to me in the middle of the night (murphys law) so i just got moving and parked her for the night.

anybody got anything to throw at me, what ever it is, spill it for me. ill check this over in the morning. im honestly thinking its gotta be a short or fuse or whatever but like i said i changed one of them and it did nothing...

i even tried to reset it by leaving it unplugged from the battery for 45 minutes then reconnected but still the same issues...

Re: I got no power for most of the interior and windows....

I hate for this to be my first post but it's the reason I came on here. I have this EXACT same problem after searching here. Checked #12 fuse which is blank on my panel so tried 11 and 13 and all good. I don't think this is fuse related. If it was control arms wouldn't light and power locks wouldn't work all together. My power locks DO work with my key fob however. Also I notice the digital readout on my cluster doesn't advise if either of my 2 front doors are open.

Before I take this in to the dealership tomorrow I thought I would post to see if someone knew the solution. It has to be something dumb. I am handy with electronics but this has me stumped. I just finished installing my Passport Escort 9500ci and I was very careful. I know I didn't short anything. Barely touched the fuse panel anyway.

BTW, I have a 2008 WK Laredo.

Thanks.

Re: I got no power for most of the interior and windows....

if you did it with the negative connectoed to the battery you blew a fuse or pop a breaker.

go to wkjeeps.com and look at fuses and cb

i KNOW YOU KNOW CARS AND HAVE A TON OF EXPERIENCE. SO DO I.

beleive me, these things are electrical monsters.

Re: I got no power for most of the interior and windows....

Thanks Robb. I live on WK Jeeps for all the details on our trucks I been looking very closely on the schematics.

Fact is, this was an issue even before I tapped into the fuse panel. I realized it halfway through the job.

Which fuses or CB do you think it is or I should check? I can't figure it out.

Re: I got no power for most of the interior and windows....

I hate to hijack this post but since SRTILLA never posted back I thought I would finish it with hopefully a good ending.

Talked to a close friend who is a mechanic and I explained what happenned here. When I did my radar install I was going to put the led for it in the cluster but then decided against. I had already taken the cluster out and unplugged the 2 cables behind it. My bud said that could be the issue because when you do this it throws the computer out of whack and it needs to be reprogrammed. He's 99% sure this is it but I checked around here and haven't seen anyone needing to do this.

He's acalling someone at a Chrysler dealer tomorrow and I will bring the truck in. Hopefully after they run a diagnostic check they will find the issue. I will keep everyone posted.

Re: I got no power for most of the interior and windows....

*Update

Checked all the fuses (2 modules under hood and 1 under the driver footwell) at my buddies repair shop. All were good.

We are thinking one of 2 things:

1. A module went bad
2. Needs to be reprogrammed

It's just weird that driver door module will work rear windows but not driver and passenger windows. Passenger door module doesn't work all together. Power locks don't work on either sides. Only with Key FOB. Dome, rear, and tailgate lights don't work but footwells do. Power side view mirrors don't work. Remote start doesn't work. Have constant error on cluster that driver door is open and doesn't recognize passenger door being open. Delayed interior power at engine shutoff doesn't work.

Going to dealership in AM. We will see what this ends up being and hopefully will get resolved however many dollars later. Man this sucks. I can't see what I did wrong here. Nothing is shorting. Maybe just coincidental but I am pissed. I am always so careful.

****Strilla - Please respond and let me know what happenned on your end. I can't PM anyone because I don't have anough posts

hey bro, sorry i sort of just vented in this topic as the OP.

i knew it had to be something going on in the jeep and sure enough the next morning (in daylight) i find one of my connections was making contact with a base metal and was shorting. even putting in a new fuse was burning out instantly.... basically when i removed the tin metal cover over the rear back row--i wasnt careful enough and screwed up the connection area pretty bad. i jimmy* rigged it where it appeared to be ok then tried a new fuse again (under the dash) and its working again.

im sure my problem was human made (my dumb ass rushing in the dark) your problem sounds a bit more internal though. i really hope its something found quick for you though bro. this kind of shiot is killer on the peace of mind for you im sure. gl yo

Re: I got no power for most of the interior and windows....

I donīt know how the things are in the WK, but on my WJ i had similar problems and finally found a broken wire in the rubber boot from the door to the body.

Re: I got no power for most of the interior and windows....

Thanks SRTilla and Frango for helping. I just dropped it at the dealership for service. Not sure yet but it may be the left switch on the column (blinkers, light dimming/controls etc.) That's why I got partially working last night when I fiddled with it. Hope it's just that. Nuts what one little thing can do for your electronics.

I am hanging at a Dunkin Donuts and waiting for them to call me back. I'll keep you posted.

Re: I got no power for most of the interior and windows....

Well...turned out not to be the switch. Diagnostics come up with nothing wrong. i must have screwed up here somewhere. There is a ground going on that's screwing up all the items i mentioned. Delaer had no idea what to do. they really didn't have anyone there to figure this out. They were waiting on a startech person or something to find out where the ground was located for all the items. It didn't show on the Chrysler schematics. Something about a "G400" connection.

I may need to disconnect everything I installed. Lockpick, radar detector and DVD headrests and see if any of those are the culprit. Its not the radar however becasue I powerd that after I saw this being a problem.

Im so pissed. I think what I will have to do is rip out all the panels I was handling when this went bad and tinker with the wires I exposed. I never tapped into anything I wasn't suppossed to that's what doesnt make sense here. Even the clown at the dealers were like who installed all this stuff. They had no idea about the Kicker upgrade by Mopar and the taps into the front left speaker to get the LFE. They were like what was that. i had to explain to them.

They didn't charge me anything so that was good. They really didn't want the headache. I had the extended warranty so they charged them for the switch they replaced. Back to the drawing board.
