Re: Jeep grand Cherokee with problems

The PCM connectors are on the PCM. The PCM, as mentioned before, sits on the engine compartment bulkhead, close to the right fender (as seen from drivers seat). The cooling system overflow reservoir just sits in front of it. The PCM has three connectors.
See attached manual page with the PCM.

Re: Jeep grand Cherokee with problems

Did you reset the PCM faults after the cleaning?
The P1686 code means that the PCM didnīt receive a signal from the SKIM. This is most probably a problem with the PCM, but for trouble shooting i would remove the shorting cap from the diagnostic juntion port. Then only the PCM, TCM and SKIM are connected to the PCI bus. If the fault continues, then i would disconnect the large connector from the TCM and try again. If still the same, then connect TCM again and disconnect the SKIM. The engine will not run (at least not longer then 3 seconds), but if it then communicates with the TCM (so no TCM bus communication code), then the SKIM must be faulty.
But i put my bet on a faulty PCM.

You do have a scanner to reset the PCM faults?
Attached two pages with the positions of the TCM and SKIM

Re: Jeep grand Cherokee with problems

OK I remove the shorting cap and fault continues.
I disconnect the connector from the TCM while the shorting cap is removed and is still the same.
But now the power windows do not work well at all there fault.
And the driver door lock does not work for me with remote control.
Maybe someone here has a drawing of a bus on the car?

Re: Jeep grand Cherokee with problems

So the TCM doesnīt seem to be the problem then. Did you already disconnect the SKIM and try again?
With the shorting cap removed, most of the components normally connected to the PCI data bus, will be disconnected. This will influence the power windows and driver door lock and many other systems.

Re: Jeep grand Cherokee with problems

The problem is the shorting cap connected is the power windows and driver door lock does not work.
And I also saw that there was no response from door driver is not light Description door opens. Nor registered as an open door alarm is always closed.
And I disconnect the SKIM in the evening.
And another thing where the BCM is found?
