New Vent Doors aren't Responding

Hi all. I have a 2011 WK2 5.7L Limited. I heard that wonderful cracking and popping noise this winter that signified the demise of my ability to control my heat on either side of the passenger compartment. After going the rest of the winter with full heat on the drivers side and full cold on the passenger side I dove into the dash and removed both actuators. The exterior gears looked fine and the vent door seem to move fine and give heat at one end of the travel and cool air on the other. I opened both actuator housings and both had stripped gears. I got replacement actuators and installed them (I believe) correctly putting the half-moon gears on first so the keyed teeth meshed and doors had full travel before mounting the actuators.

My problem: The actuators don't respond at all. My understanding is that once the unit is turned on it will go thru a self-calibration where they travel from one extreme to the other. They didn't appear to do this nor will they respond to running temps up and down. Is there some sort of electrical reset I need to do?

At a loss.

Re: New Vent Doors aren't Responding

from WJ series but might be same....it doesn't auto-recal except every 20 cycles....

Calibrating AZC door actuators

Calibrate the door actuators after making any repairs to the AZC system. To calibrate the door actuators proceed as follows:

1. Turn the ignition on.
2. Set the AZC to automatic.
3. Turn the ignition off.
4. Remove the IOD fuse from the Power Distribution Center. Wait several seconds, and then install the IOD fuse.
5. Turn the ignition on. Do not touch any of the AZC controls for at least one minute to allow the calibration function to run to completion.

Every 20 key cycles the AZC head initiates a re-calibration routine which identifies pulse counts required to achieve full door travel. Also during this routine all modes and functions are validated as functional. When the self calibration routine is complete, the control head resets itself to its last settings.

Re: New Vent Doors aren't Responding

Excellent! So this is where we find out if this applies to WK2's (can imagine they'd have different software). I'll report back with results. Thanks!!

GoPlzGo - Sorry for the delayed post, but this routine worked perfectly. Vent doors went through their calibration and have full range. Thanks!!
