No heat passenger side

Fix one problem, another crops up.

Replaced the blend doors with the metal upgrade parts a few years ago.

Now all of the sudden there is no heat on the passenger side no matter the settings. Drivers side seems to be working fine. This is a Limited so it has AZC.

I pulled the codes, 52 and 56, but I never cleared the original codes that I know of so I don't know if these are recent or the old ones.

How likely could the recerc and the temp doors both failing?

I am about to cut open the box again and see if there is anything obvious.

Taking Grandma to church in the morning and she sits on that side and will freeze! So, going out in the 28 degree night to try to cobble up something!

Any hints would be most welcome!

-Mark

Re: No heat passenger side

That's just nuts. My seat heaters shut off a bit too soon but overall the AZC seems okay though sometimes slow on heat. It can't be your thermostat if drivers side is fine. Is there a sensor somewhere on the passenger side. How is the heat coming through the rear unit. If that's working, turn it on and up towards the passenger side, for now. Bad piles on deep. So sorry about this. I hate lemon cars but they do happen all the time regardless of make. Keep so similar to VW. Usually it's a fine rude or a complete miserable experience.

Re: No heat passenger side

If the passenger seat heater worked it would be one thing. But that hasn't worked since the warranty ran out. Despite all of its faults my wife has loved her Jeep, but it is wearing thin with all the issues.

Re: No heat passenger side

I would first reset the codes by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes and see if they come back during operation. You could try the calibration of the system as described overhere: Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ - Climate controls

Re: No heat passenger side

Pulled the glove box and panel that I had taped back in after replacing the blend doors.
The front, drivers blend door is working normally, but the back passenger side one isn't moving at all. I can't figure out how to get to (or even see) that inner blend door motor.

Thoughts? I am hoping for a miracle so I don't have to pull the dash...

Re: No heat passenger side

I epoxied the two blend doors together so we will live with a good old single zone until I have the energy to tear out the dash. Definitely will replace the blend doors with these when I do so they will never break again.

Re: No heat passenger side

That HVAC blower has given me fits. I'm on my 3rd and there isn't a good aftermarket unit to get MOPAR from keeping my business. Better for one heated zone than just a drivers side. Sorry to hear about the loss of your heated seats. Usually that's a self-limiting flaw/benefit to keep the car from catching fire. Loads of idiots cramp that area under seats with loads of paper and flammable garbage. Hopefully that's just a fuse or spot fix. Heated seats and remote start are why I have a snow worthy SUV in the first place.

Re: No heat passenger side

Fused the blend doors and installed. Works just fine as a single zone. Hinted gently to my wife to suck it up. I have never had a daily with dual zone!
