OEM REC radio and bitter cold temps

When I started the WK this morning the dash said the air temp was 12deg. The display on my REC radio was blank and the backup camera did not appear when I placed the tranny in reverse. The unit worked fine as a Sirius radio (the mode it was in last night when I parked) and I could change to my preset stations. I could not change to the cd player, navigation or AM/FM. After the Jeep warmed up, the display returned and the unit worked normally. This is the 2nd time this has happened and both times it was damn cold outside.

Anybody else have this happen to their REC? Is it just something I will have to live with or am I looking at a unit on its last legs?

Re: OEM REC radio and bitter cold temps

my rec just comes on very dim in the cold until it warms up. i have never had the problem you are having, but it is so dim that i can barely see it so i can see how it could be possible.

Thanks for the reassuring words Guess I'll just get use to it and hopefully it won't ever need replaced.

Re: OEM REC radio and bitter cold temps

I've had the MyGig in my jeep phuck up sometimes. When I plug in the ipod it says (No media on device) and the GPS freezes and takes a while to recalculate. I think I should remove the music thats stored in it. But next time turn the jeep off and back on again and see if it does it again.

Re: OEM REC radio and bitter cold temps

No problems with mine other than being a little on the dim side till it warms up some.
