Oil smell after stopping '14 limited diesel
We just came back to Jeep getting a '14 limited diesel with all but the cold weather package. Aside from sitting at the dealer for a reason I will post separate on we are happy with it. Ever since taking delivery we have noticed a distinct smell of oil, initially only when we got out but now we notice it most often when we stop and idle for a minute or two as the manual indicates to do. It seems to be coming from the vents and we don't really smell it outside the vehicle anymore, sometimes sitting at a stop light we will also smell it, and no it is not coming from a car in front of us. Initially when we only smelled it outside I assumed it was burning off something, but at almost 2 months and 2,700 miles I don't think that is the case anymore. I've seen posts about oil leaks but none with this mostly internal from the vents symptom, and I have gotten down to look for any obvious signs of a leak and not found anything. No oil on the skid plates, drain plug or anywhere else I can find.
We don't recall this smell on either of the other 2 diesel grand cherokees we test drove before purchasing this one either. We also didn't notice it on the short test drive at delivery but did after hour drive home. It also isn't there every time but seems to be getting more consistent.
