powere steering leak

power steering issues? i have no physical issues other than i noticed the engine is soaked in oil. i checked the fluid level and its not even that low it could use to be topped off, but its not even near the fill line. i want to try and get this before it becomes a bigger issue what do you guys think just replace the steering pump or is there a gasket i can change or something, ive never had to diagnose/replace one before.

Re: powere steering leak

That could just be oil, there is a plastic cap with an o-ring right behind that in the cylinder head to access timing chain guide hardware. its hard to say without pulling stuff apart.. I would suggest cleaning it off first and doing something like dye in the oil or in the power steering (only one obviously) then when it comes back if you put the dye in the oil and it glows with a black light then you know its just the oring or the cap (or the valve cover gasket), and visa versa.
