Rear Seat Removal...help!

So I am in the process of gutting my interior to put down some sound deadener material. Everything was going smoothly until I got to the seat back portion of the rear seat. Following the wkjeeps.com instructions I started with the outermost bolts, but it seems as though the nut has broken loose from the body and they just spin. Normally this wouldn't be an issue but I cannot gain access to the nut on the underside of the vehicle.

Any help or recommendations would be appreciated, I'm really stuck on this one. Not opposed to cutting if I have to but then I'm not sure how I would reattached the seat!

Re: Rear Seat Removal...help!

i had removed my wk rear seats.

are you 100% sure the nuts fell off?

i can tell you that the outermost bolt is about 2.5 3 inches long. it is a very fine thread AND its loaded with loctite and undercoating.

i didnt want to use my torch in there but I did heat up a screwdriver end and HELD IT to the head of the bolt. to try and soften things.

and i used a 18" breaker bar and it was PITA/

I'm sure. 3 of the 4 outermost bolts spin freely by hand but will not come out. Since I can see some of the threads I soaked it with PB Blaster and will try putting pressure on the bolt head with a screwdriver to see if it breaks free.

Re: Rear Seat Removal...help!

Just an update, after more than a day of messing with these things, they still wouldn't come out. Decided to cut a 'relief' hole in the floor and cut the heads of the bolts off. I plan on making a bracket with two nuts welded on that I can position through the hole to reattach the seat.

Not the way I would have liked to do it but everything will be covered with the deadener anyways.
