Re: service 4wd system

My Jeep just started to say "Service 4WD System" I'm gonna go to advanced auto parts and see if they could pull up a code.

Re: service 4wd system

I had mine pop on for a few mins in the driveway and went off. I just figured I needed to change the T-case fluid. Thats what I did... Haven't seen it yet.

Re: service 4wd system

Being new here and not wanting to to sound too thick what is TSB? apart from being a high street bank here in the UK. As you say you have had yours flashed I assume that its a software update? Is this only available from the main dealers?

I have watched her back out of the drive and although I can't really hear the noise from the outside I can see the front right tyre which is on the outside of the bend "scrabbling" for grip as if the diff is locked up and its turning at a diferent speed to the other wheels. Once warm this problem seems to go away however the "service 4X4 sytem" light came on the other day whilst driving. i can feel this hapening when I drive the car from cold but I only drive it once a month or less. I asked local garrage to change the diff oil the other day so i could start to eliminate things 1 by 1 and much to my dissapointment they didn't as in their veiw the oil was in good condition. Would it worth taking it to the main stealers and paying mega 's. What else should I be having a look at? ie any sofware updates, solenoids, wiring or electrical connections.

Thanks in advance.

curious what the kms are on the CRD and if it equates to a service schedule that may tell you if you have to change fluids in the diffs and the trnsfr case....?????

Re: service 4wd system

Had the Jeep in to the main dealers yesterday for a full oil change on the transmission system, front and rear diffs, transfer case and auto box and had a full diagnostic check done. No problems found other than a leacking plug on the gearbox which was replaced. The problem seems to have gone away except on extreme full lock where there is a slight hint of the shudder / diff lock up but it is much better than before and seems a little quieter too.

The CRD has covered 47000 Miles which by my rough estimate is 80000kms

Re: service 4wd system

The dealer wants $100.00 to flash my software & make the "Service 4WD" go away forever. Sounds like a lot to me.

If you could get the software and had a PC with a terminal program could you do it yourself???

Just out of curiosity what does make that light go on if it's working right. Dirty fluid? Low fluid?

Re: service 4wd system

I changed mine yesterday because the Service 4X4 System Light came on. I changed the fluid. While changing the fluid when it poured out if looked clean, but I poured some into a coffee can and it was very dirty. I replaced the fluid and the light still comes on. WTF?!? I'm going to call the dealership tomorrow and see whats up.
