Shifter / key release cable adjustment

I am having a problem with the key release. Is there an adjustment on the cable / linkage that runs from the gear selector to the back of the key socket? It looks like the back of the key receptor has just an inlet for the cable. So I'm thinking it's below the gear lever. But how do you get to it if it's there?

Thanks Frango, is there more? It tells me to "refer to 21 - TRANSMISSION AND TRANSFER CASE / AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION / GEARSHIFT CABLE - ADJUSTMENTS)

Also, if you wouldn't mind, could you include "23 - BODY / INTERIOR / FLOOR CONSOLE - REMOVAL"

Thanks! Text Font Document Paper

Ok, so here's how this one ended up...
I disassembled the steering column cover and the center console to take a look and search for any loose parts / connections. I got interrupted then the jeep was used a couple times while all the covers were apart. The issue has resolved itself!??!
Just like when you bring your vehicle to the dealership.
It has now cycled about 30 times with no further issues.

Go figure...

I am currently having what I believe to be the same issue. My original shifter had the dust guard break, so I bought a whole new unit and just removed the old/installed the new one. As I started putting everything back together, I reconnected the battery to try and start it. I did not get any click/attempt at starting, and this is where I am stuck now.

With everything connected, if the key is out/lock position, the gear selector does not move. If the key is moved to on/acc, the gear shifter then is able to move freely through all positions, without pressing the brake. The jeep is in my garage stall and I don't have a ton of room to try to push it, but it feels like it may be in neutral.

I'm not sure if the park lock cable is broken/the issue, or if it is something with the install of the transmission shift cable I did wrong, but I can't seem to get it to work.

Finally figured it out - Disconnected all cables/plugs, and followed steps from Jeep Grand Cherokee WK. Manual - part 1513, 21-864 (Jeep Grand Cherokee WK. Manual - part 1513)

Reconnected battery after following those steps and it started right up! Next will be just reinstalling all interior pieces. New shifter is a significant improvement. Did not realize how bad the old one was even leading up to the breaking of the dust cover. Also turned out to be a great opportunity to deep clean all those interior pieces, so it is all looking very fresh for a 200k+ mile winter beater!
