short in climate control lights, please help

my wife bought a 05 Lerado, everything works good but the climate control lights did not work, I took it apart and the bulbs were blown, no biggie, I soldered in new LED's and they work great. so I figured I would put LED's in the menu buttons also. I don't have a 12v source in the house so I was using the vehicle power with the button plate still plugged in and touching the lights to it to make sure I had the polarity right before I soldered them. one of the lights arced and I lost everything, no power and I cant find or see any blown fuses. I still have gauge and stereo lights but no power to the climate control or center console lights. If I run a jumper from the 12v power supply on the dash to the orange/brn wire, then they all light up. so I ran a jumper from the front park light to the orange/brn wire on the back of the gauge cluster and now everything comes on like it should, but now the gauge dimmer don't work and all the orange/brn wires seem to trace back to the gauge cluster, so I don't know if something in there blew or not, I took it apart and did not see anything visually blown, I am stumped, any help would be great , I don't know what I am missing

Fuse 10 in the IPM (under the hood) maybe?
Do all of your parking lights work correctly?

Re: short in climate control lights, please help

yes, checked every fuse in the cab and under the hood, all are ok. all the park lights work correctly, dash lights and stereo lights work like they should. it just killed power to all the lights in the center console under the stereo. the orange/brn wire is the only common wire I can find that connects them and it comes out of the gauge cluster but it has no juice so im pretty sure I fried something in the cluster. I ran a jumper from the front park light back to the wire in the cluster and now everything lights up like it should but I cant dim anything now, which I don't really care about that. I would just like to b able to pinpoint what fried so I can fix it
