Sudden rough idle and coolant spray from driver"s side of the block

Hi,

I'm usually able to find out what's going on with my jeep using search, but this one has me stumped:

Classification: UNCLASSIFIED
Caveats: NONE

2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
*
I was driving into work today and heard a clattering sound, as if a small part fell off the engine.
*
I pulled over immediately and noticed a very rough idle and steam coming from the driver's side of the engine. I shut it down and saw the forward driver's side of the engine bay was coated in antifreeze.
*
I got the following codes.
*
P0456
Can't remember the other one, but it was basically a bad crank position sensor (P0323?), In fact I was on my way to replace the sensor when it happened.
*
Prior to this, we were experiencing an intermittant stall, due to the CPS, and in the past week I have changed the fuel pump and filter. Other than that the car started, idled and ran perfectly.
*
What should I be looking for to diagnose the coolant loss and rough idle?

Classification: UNCLASSIFIED
Caveats: NONE

Re: Sudden rough idle and coolant spray from driver"s side of the block

P0456 = small evap leak. You will have to check the lines coming and going to/from the evap canister for leaks and also the gas cap.
For the coolant leak, you will be the only one who can see where the coolant is coming from. When you canīt find it, fill the system and let the engine run and see if you can find it now. Check the radiator side caps (the plastic tanks), the hoses etc.
The rough idle can come from the bad crank sensor.
