Question Tailgate "handle" removal

Does anyone have a service manual with instructions on how to remove the tailgate handle or also known as the tailgate eyebrow ... the piece that's right above the license plate and holds the tag lamps and window switch. Thanks in advance.

Re: Tailgate "handle" removal

LOL I was back there looking at everything and I knew it was going to be more work than it needed to be. At least it's already in pieces and hopefully I can source the socket p/n from my local five star dealer.

Re: Tailgate "handle" removal

i bought the painted one for my laredo. it was my first mod.

2 things.

the wiring plug was different on new vs. old. so i reused the old one. just swapped it.

when you try to remove the inner panel, near where is bends there is a huge inner door pin. that one was trouble for us.

I believe there's clips from the inside you need to remove for the long strip that hold both LP lights, once you snap that out you'll gain access to the socket that fell back (that you pushed out ).

Here's some pics I took when I went through it but I don't think I never posted it .

Good luck!

I think this is the clip you need to unhook in order for the strip to snap out. There's another one of those on the opposite side
