grand cherokee overland 2012
just wondering if anyone has had the tailgate open by itself
i locked the car one night , to find the tailgate open in the morning.
This is the 3rd time its happened in a week. i went to my local jeep dealer , and was advised that they could not fix the problem unless they experienced it first hand HALLOOOOO i cant leave the car anywhere with any safety.Surly iam not the first person in the world that has this problem.
Can anyone help
That is one awful issue to have. You couldn't take the car anywhere. Not sure how the dealer would experience it first hand. Do you have another dealer nearby you could try for hopefully a different answer?
I just posted the exact same issue on my 2012 Overland...it's been happening since this time last year...my wife drives it and has been complaining about...thought she was accidentally hitting the FOB...then I witnessed it first hand, happened 2 nights in a row....this is a real issue...
for our issue, it seems to be the particular key FOB...tested a few times and confirmed it happens when the fob is left in close proximity to the to the GC..eventually (random times) the tail gate does go up without any interaction with the fob...
we purchased an extra fob from the dealer to have a spare...they all look alike so not sure if this was one of the originals or the spare fob...anyway, that FOB is marked and stays in the drawer now
Is it the tailgate or window in tailgate, if it's the glass check to make sure the button under rear glass isn't hung up in hope where you push it. Mine would go too far into the hole and click sideways and when you hit the unlock button on key fob it opens glass too
