Ticking heard in rearend

I have a GC Limited and it ticks in the rear only when you apply the brakes. Any ideas on what this could be? I've heard about a tab getting broke off or something? Is this something I see can without taking off the tire?

Re: Ticking heard in rearend

I never had this problem myself, but i think the best thing is to get the wheel of to check if there is something loose or broken. Is it a loud noise or just low volume?

Re: Ticking heard in rearend

2005 Hemi....I can only hear it below 20 mph and only when the brakes are applied. It makes a tick, tick, tick sound and goes away when you let off the brakes. I thought I read something somewhere about the brake pad wear indicator could be making the sound if its broken off???

Re: Ticking heard in rearend

its def. something in the brakes. A part of the pad could be broken or it could be the wear indicator

Re: Ticking heard in rearend

Is this a sound that tells you it needs new pads and rotors? Or is it a different problem?

Re: Ticking heard in rearend

really hard to say without being there to hear the sound. Do you have any braking problems pr excessive dust?
