Tranny slippin...

I have an '01 WJ Limited. The tranny slipped a lil, not too often. Just had the transmission fluid changed, etc. But now it seems to be doing it more often, only happens when starting out from a complete stop (stop light) and when I sloe down to turn a street corner and accelerate. Anyone got any insight?

Re: Tranny slippin...

When the tranny really slips (one of the clutches), your check engine light should come on and a fault code be set. When a clutch slips, you soon get a burning smell to the tranny fluid and finally the clutch wears out quickly.
Most probably its your torque converter which is slipping more then normal.

Re: Tranny slippin...

Got her fixed, had too much faith in the mechanics when I had the fluid changed, etc. They had barely any fluid in it. Filled her up and I'm good to go luckily!

Re: Tranny slippin...

Yep that would have been my suggestion... if it worked before and then a symptom devlops afterwards, its likely a workmanship issue... the seal on the sump filter not installed properly, the filter was damaged during install, the trans wasnt filled up properly. Always the first place to start, the instigating incident

I agree, Im glad to hear thats all it was too.
