Re: Transfer case swap

The NV242 has a position sensor on the left side of the housing, which sends the position information to the PCM.

Re: Transfer case swap

Not sure why the PCM should know the transfer case position. The only reason i know is that it can show the "Part Time" message on the instrument cluster.
I heard from several doing this swap, but never heard anybody talking about connecting wires to the sensor. I do think that they donīt use it, but maybe someone who did this swap can chime in.

Re: Transfer case swap

Since the 247 doesnīt have it, the PCM is not looking at it, so you should be fine.

Re: Transfer case swap

Just swapped, also swapped shifter. Problem is that I can't seem to get all the tc gears.
Can't reach 2 WD (front most position) Do I adjust coupling nut in or out? Neutral lines up and sifts to neutral, can get other gears but not 2 wd. What am I missing? Every other post sounds as if the swap is one for one. ????

Re: Transfer case swap

Can you move the lever on the T-case to the 2 WD position?

Re: Transfer case swap

No, tried it yesterday a.m., disconnected linkage from t.c. and tried to push into position, resistance felt the same as on the shifter, kinda spongy and wouldn't seem to get far enough in for the detente to align. I read about there being an inherent problem and tried a suggestion, backing up while trying to engage 2WD but to no avail. Huh

Re: Transfer case swap

If it also doesn't engage when moving slowly, then i would expext a problem with the T-case.

Re: Transfer case swap

From here its difficult to tell what the problem is. Did you check the fluid level in the case first and/or put fresh fluid in?
