USB in Console Stopped Working

I've had my Grand Cherokee for 2 years and have always played music from a USB card in the USB port located between the dash and the gear shift. It stopped working today and just shows CONNECT DEVICE when I press USB. When trying to change source by voice command, it says the device is not available. I've tried removing and reinserting the card and nothing happens.

Has anyone else had this issue? How was it resolved?

Coincidently, I'm having the exact problem with my heretofore problem free 2014 GC Ltd. like yours I plug in the USB cord from my I Phone into the USB port, and what previously worked before, does not work and charges only. The dealer said to use the AUX port instead ! ( then, why did it work previously ?)
I'll call a few other dealers tomorrow and let you know what happens.
I'll bet however, the more knowledgable Jeep Forum members will know exactly the problem and solution.

Annoyed that I couldn't reboot my 2014 GC Ltd radio (4AN), I went back to my GC with Jeep Garage on my I Pad in hand and re read soft reboot. Before I did anything, I again tried playing my I Phone 6S through the USB port ... and it worked perfectly !
The only difference is that I updated my Apple software ( to 10.0.2 ) [ although that shouldn't make a difference... should it?
Anyhow, it works now. I'll keep you posted .

Hi RobEdborg,

You can enter your VIN here to see if there are any software updates for your Uconnect system: https://www.driveuconnect.com/software-update/. Your local dealership can provide further diagnosis if needed. Let me know if you have any additional questions!

I can't do fancy resets in my 2011 but I had a broken cable for the usb where the hinge is. I unfortunately had to buy a used worn center console+cable as it was the cheapest and the only way to replace the cable as the cable wasn't available anymore by itself except in Russia. I don't recommend it as it sucks for charging stuff and we have Bluetooth now days for all electronics so file transfer isn't needed.
