What is this - 2014 JGC Laredo Diesel

Hey all. Can anyone identify this item. It was found behind the rear seats on the floor. I can't for the life of me work out what it's for or might have been used for.
It's in Australia too....

Thanks

I'm guessing but is it a gas spring thing for the back liftgate? (girl guess )

Something was niggling at me so I went out and checked. I knew I had seen that blue sticker somewhere before.

A similar sticker (same company) is on the liftgate gas/spring thingee of our '07 WK, not the MY14 though.

I thought that for a moment too but the hook thing and the plastic stand type end threw me. It's as if the plastic end is supposed to sit on the ground or a flat surface and the hook hold something either in or out but it's got me stumped!

I'm just guessing here, but if not for the rear tailgate, maybe for the hood? And maybe the hook was straight at some point and got bent?

Yeah I thought about that too. Problem is, Chrysler use their own branded gas struts in these cars and they're a thicker body too.
Looking closely at the hook end, it appears that's been"installed" there. A mate on FB has suggested it may be a tool used to perhaps hold he brake pedal down or out....

Thanks for thinking though....

If the label is P6904 which it appears to be, google AVM P6904 and you get liftgate gas lift shock.

Maybe the hook wasn't there until some ham fisted assembler bent it a good one?

I did just that but like I said in my last post, Chrysler use their own branded struts, and their black and their quite bigger. Looking at the hook part I can see it's not broken as it has tool marks where it was cut. It appear to have been factory installed.

I've been into my Jeep dealer and they have no idea what it could be. One theory was that it was to hold the brakes on during shipping to Australia - sounds logical but I really doubt it somehow
