What now? OMG

My 2002 Jeep Liberty Sport just got transmission filter-fluid change. Moved to Georgia, now engine light on, battery light on, no A/C, blowing hot air. Should I get diagnostic (yes,. probably) but what things should I expect? My last mechanic did say I need a sensor (O2) but as soon as I could get the part, but wasn't under the impression I needed it yesterday. He said that was where some transmission fluid leaking (condensation) Anyway somebody brief me so I dont spend too much I do not even have. I appreciate a brief tutorial.

Re: What now? OMG

I think that on the liberty you can also check for fault codes yourself, at least as a start, the so called key dance: ignition switch off/run three times and leave in run at the third time. The odometer will show DONE when no faults stored, or a fault code(s). Since the check engine light is on, you will have a fault code set. It can be from the O2 sensor, as you already mentioned. Now it depends on which O2 sensor is bad, if it is wise to continue driving. A bad O2 sensor can cause the catalist to melt down.
So let us first know which code(s) you find to see where to go from there.

Re: What now? OMG

Did you poke around under the hood to make sure it wasn't something easy like a shredded or loose belt?

If you have an AutoZone nearby they'll usually plug in to the OBDII and pull the codes for free (hoping that you'll buy parts from them to fix it).

That is a good one, when im not wrong u2canrenew wanted to change the belt and tensioner before, but the tensioner bolt was stuck. Did you finally change the belt for a new one?
