Wheel Bearing Issue?????

I have noticed some wear on the outside of my front tires.
I have Mud Terrains on there now.

I also thought that as the tires were wearing down they seemed to be getting exceptionally loud.

So this is a tough one as it is hard to describe noises.....
I am wondering if my front wheel bearings are shot. There is a loud humming that gets louder and quieter coming from the front end. When I go around a bend in the road it gets louder and sort of makes a pulsating obnoxious droning sound....like a Whah Whah Whah.

I have not checked the front tires for any play as I know this is a dead give away on a shot bearing....i am just wondering if anyone else has experienced anything like this????:c onfused:

Re: Wheel Bearing Issue?????

Unless you have a ton of miles or really abuse your Jeep, I'd be surprised if its the bearings going bad. When was the last time you had the alignment checked? That would be my guess for the wear and the wear on MTs will certainly lead to louder tires.

Re: Wheel Bearing Issue?????

I will do....I am going to rotate...balance and get an alignment.
I have 70k on the jeep....mostly highway.
I don't beat on it either....it's just the most awful loud droning noise.....Grrrrrr

Re: Wheel Bearing Issue?????

the drone could be the unusual wear on the mud terrains

Re: Wheel Bearing Issue?????

I am on my second set of wheel hubs due to wheeling, jack it up, secure it, grab the bottom and top of tire (vertically) and rock it back and forward to see if it has any play.

Re: Wheel Bearing Issue?????

I had a bearing issue on my Jeep, it sounded like I was running a knobby mud tire on the front passanger side even though it was a stock tire, I couldnt figure out what it was at first till I took it in.
