WK Tie rods

Hi everyone. I have an 05 GC Limited, and seem to have a worn inner tie rod. I have a complete procedure for replacing it, but I've heard that some people replace the steering box along with their inner tie rod. Is that really necessary? Also, would it be a good idea to replace the tie rod end as well, since it will already be disconnected from the vehicle?
I know if I replace any of those parts, I'll have to get the front end aligned, but I'd rather avoid the $200+ replacement of a part I can replace myself.
