Re: 1997 zj limited Electric fan swap for 5.2 L
Well, it's been almost 2 weeks and no one else responded. I just saw your post, and did a quick Google search on "jeep 5.2 electric fan swap" - lots of posts on other forums about this.
Just make sure you do it right. Nothing worse than to have to stop to help someone with a home-brew e-fan setup that suddenly quits, and not only do they not know why, but they also don't have spare relays, electrical connectors, replacement wiring in the correct gauge(s), screws (yeah, when you remove them out on a trail, they tend to fall in the dirt, rocks, grass where you can't find them).
My '97 5.2 is due for a complete cooling system r&r, and I'm just going to go back with the factory setup - it's cooled fine with routine maintenance (replacement fan clutch and wp some years ago, and hoses every few years) since I bought it new up until about 2 years ago. And BTW, the stock factory radiator (the one with the plastic tanks) hasn't leaked a drop, and still doesn't. I do think it's probably starting to plug up, so that's why I'm replacing it with everything else, as it regularly now runs hotter than I'd like.
