I finally gave up and trying to figure out the problem and took it in - the garage said the BCM was going bad. They then told me that unfortunately, they couldn't locate any new ones (they aren't made any more) and that they didn't think you could just swap one out, because they are one-time programed. I thought I would ask for a second opinion, and see if any one has been in the same predicament. Does anyone know if we can get one from a similar model and swap it out?
Yeah probably not a good idea to just plug in a used one, they can reprogram stuff you might not want programmed. A new one will read your current settings and use those. Dealers usually don't have them, but a guy who is kind of famous in the Jeep community probably has them, he goes by Kolak, and can be reached at [email protected]
Heck, he might even already be on this forum
Or I'm sure you can find one on the internet somewhere
Oh and some of those problems could be related to loose door wiring or a shoddy headlight switch if not the bcm.
