1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Lift Kit Question

New to the forum and recently bought a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo and I'm looking to lift it. Was curious what everyone's thoughts are between these two lift kits, or a different recommendation.

Rough Country 4IN JEEP LONG ARM SUSPENSION LIFT KIT

Iron Rock Offload ZJ 5.5" Critical Path Long Arm Kit

Any suggestions, things to avoid, is 5.5" too much (not looking to change too much right now on the Jeep), is long arm better than regular (i.e., better ride on-road/ride quality/more capability), and anything else I'm not thinking to ask? Thanks!

I like Claytons long arm kit with the triangulated rear. With the ZJ there are a ton of options for coils and such. I would suggest finding the height you want first, then buy good stuff the first time. Most of us started with small lifts and you always want bigger and bigger. It gets expensive that way.

Thanks for the advice! I'll have to look into it and really choose the best option for my vision.

Re: 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Lift Kit Question

Also check out Rubicon Express's 4.5" lift for ZJs. I ran this on mine for years without issues. Generally, the long arm systems will give a much smoother ride for street use.
There will be other things to consider, like drop steering bracket, extended brake lines, extended swaybar end links (or like others, myself included, get swaybar quick disconnects for front, extensions for rear), Steering stabilizer. There may be other things I'm forgetting and hopefully others will chime in.

Of course you have to factor in new wheels and bigger tires

Like hound said, take your time, pick the lift that best suits you in the LONG run and buy accordingly.
