96 grand cherokee stalling while driving

So I have a 96 grand cherokee 4.0 with 42re transmission, I have been having issues with the transmission slipping for about 3 years now. It never really got bad until about a year and a half ago. About a year ago it started stalling on me while driving. It won't die while sitting still only while driving. I just ran it for 3 hours while sitting still and nothing. I ran through the entire main harness and found some shorts. I changed the PCU and the shorts are now gone. Also there are no codes showing. I am getting to the point that I don't have many more hairs to pull out or enough beer to drink. I just want to figure out what is going on. Could the transmission be causing this or might there be something causing the transmission and stalling issues? Thanks for the help.

Hello there my name is chase and I have a 98 jeep zj with the 5.2 v8 . I went out to start it to go to work and the battery was completely dead I just charged it and it starts up but as soon as I let my foot off the gas it dies. I am stuck I checked to see if there might be any loose wires but everything is snug. I just bought the jeep about a month ago and hasent had any issues tell now I was wondering if you were Abel to figure out what was causing it to shut off on you any suggestions would be great.. thanks in advance.

My 98 Dakota does that. A mechanic told me that the computer has to relearn everything like idle, WOT, etc. Feather the gas, find a sweet spot so you can drive it, hold brake and keep it revved enough to stay running, etc. It takes about 30 miles to relearn all its parameters. Be sure to stop, start back off, punch it to the floor a couple times and it will start getting smoother and smoother as you go.

I'll give it a shot I went out and started it after I got of work and it stayed idling but seem to be low at like 500 rather than a 1000 I'm going to check it out tomorrow since I don't work so I'll put a post up after I get more check list options done.. thanks for your imput
