hi...getting ready to do the unthinkable and replace my heater core. I have a 98 grand cherokee with 5.2 v8. I have a coolant smell inside, after I make a left hand turn. I have replaced the water pump, belts and hoses. there is no residue build up on the wind shield after I use the defroster either. A mechanic says it's the heater core. Any other possibilities before I tear into it?...thanks
My heater core actually leaked inside the vehicle. Check under the floor carpets and make sure the heater box drain is not blocked. The drain is on the firewall side.
mine did it at 225k on my 98 grand it is the heater core, look at you tube if you do the job your self you will have to pull that dash i had it done sons buddie is a mechanic and he did it on the side for cash the core dont cost much it is all labor. also do a good job of topping of anti frezze
