Re: Coolant Temp Sensor Fault

It's an ugly reddish-orange clay like substance. It's all over the radiator cap area inside. Down inside the overflow bottle at the bottom. Ugly. Going to have to wait for tax return to do it.

I have never changed it and it has 166,000 miles on it. I bought it last year and it was only supposed to get me through the winter but plans have changed and now I want to keep it because I like how dependable and comfortable it is.

Re: Coolant Temp Sensor Fault

The coolant has corrosion inhibiters in it, but these inhibiters disappear over time and the metal inside the cooling system will start to corrode. This makes the liquid getting this brown/red color. The sludge it will cause can cause serious cooling problems. So best is to flush the system ASAP and put fresh coolant in it, to prevent future cooling problems.
